GP: "Well, I can refer you to a paediatrician if you really want, but I can tell you now there is absolutely nothing wrong with her."
Paediatrician: "She has mild Talipes [crooked feet] - she will need some physiotherapy to straighten her feet out."
Physiotherapist: "I don't think exercises will be enough - I'll get the Orthopaedic Surgeon to take a look."
Orthopaedic Surgeon: "We need to wrap her legs in a soft cast for 6 weeks, and she'll need special boots when she's older."
Rachael: "Waaaaaaah!"
The casts don't seem to bother her too much...
...and they're not stopping her from learning new skills!
Here is a closeup of her right foot before the casts were fitted:
Update: After 2 weeks, Rachael had made so much progress that she no longer needed the casts (much to the surprise of the physiotherapist). We have to do exercises on her feet every day, but apart from that she is unlikely to need any further treatment.
Another Update: Rachael's feet still aren't quite straight, so she will have some special shoes made for her when she's 11 months old. They will look like normal shoes though, so her street cred will remain intact.
