Well, Bump was not feeling very co-operative today so the scan photos are not quite as nice as last time. (S)He decided it would be fun to lie face down, so the sonographer couldn't see all the bits and pieces she needed to check. We had to go for a walk for 20 minutes to try and persuade Bump to roll over so that the sonographer could finish. Thankfully, (s)he obliged (but we still didn't get a good pic! ) Yes, nice spine, Bump - now roll over! After a walk round the block The sonographer checked Bump's brain - to make sure the cerebellum was properly shaped, and she scanned down through the face, checking the eye sockets, nose and mouth. We briefly saw Bump opening and closing its mouth as though talking! She checked the arms and legs and Bump's hands kept clenching into fists, then releasing. Apparently the feet can sometimes point inwards during development, which requires physiotherapy after birth to straighten, but Bump's feet are fine at the moment. We saw the 4 chambers of the heart quite clearly, and the sonographer checked the stomach and other internal organs - everything seems perfectly normal, and she wasn't able to see any signs of abnormality or anything. Bump is an average size so far too. In the last week or so, Em has been able to feel little kicks - I can sometimes feel them too if they're strong enough. No doubt Bump is just limbering up ready to start thumping and kicking in earnest! That was the last scan we will have (assuming nothing goes wrong) - next time we see Bump, it will be for real!
